heating oilProbably the most frequently asked question about heating oil is: Is it safe? The answer is yes, it is very safe. In fact, it’s considered to be the safest type of heating fuel because it won’t explode and it never gets hot enough to cause a fire. It will warm your home safely, quickly and cost-effectively. Here are a few more common questions we hear:

  • Is Heating Oil Clean? It’s just as clean as any other type of fuel for home heating. A well-maintained oil furnace won’t produce any visible smoke from its chimney, and there will be no soot, dust or odor inside, either.
  • When is the Best Time to Buy Home Oil? Before the heating season begins, it’s best to fill your tank. Keeping the tank almost full during summer will help prevent condensation water from accumulating in it.
  • I recently moved to a house with an oil furnace, and I don’t know how to order oil. What do I do?If you live in Western North Carolina, just call us at Bumgarner Oil! You can order a specific amount of oil – say 100 gallons – or you can have the tank filled. Typically, the more gallons you buy at one time, the lower the price per gallon will be.
  • How many gallons of heating oil will I use in a month? Usually, the figure is about 3 gallons a day (100 per month) for the three coldest months – December, January and February.
